Punk, it does not seem so. (Ha, "seem"!)
I will say this in their language --
".... In the abundance of many words (their prolific output of verbiage), there is transgression..." !!!!!
an awake!tm article about shunning spouses.. http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g201306/the-silent-treatment/#?insight[search_id]=f6240b1c-2a33-4ac9-a50b-f2130feaa43e&insight[search_result_index]=0 .
apparently it's retaliation and manipulation.. i wonder what they think about shunning df'd or da'd victims?.

Wow.... The article says:
"Of course, a temporary time-out can give a couple the opportunity to let emotions cool when an argument is getting out of hand. That type of silence can be beneficial. The Bible says that there is โa time to keep quiet.โ (Ecclesiastes 3:7) But when it is used as a means to retaliate or manipulate, the silent treatment not only prolongs conflict but also erodes the respect the couple have for each other. How can you prevent that from happening to you?
The first step to ending the silent treatment is to recognize it for what it isโa tactic that, at best, works only short-term...."
...
So, in their own words, shunning:
- prolongs conflict
- erodes respect
- at best, works only short term
Wow...!
flipping thru the pages of the april 15 wt study edition, i bumped into something that strikes me as odd.
not that the wt never publishes odd things, but usually such comes in the form of misapplied scripture or hidden second meanings.
i've never paid attention before but to me this is the first time i see a whole paragraph with no bible verses to read.. in the article tiled "always trust in jehovah!
these are the kingdom songstm with food titles..
1. jehovahs artichokes.
2. we thank you jello shots.
well, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.
in normal society this wouldn't happen.
i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.
They are so disconnected from everything.... From each other, the world, their community, their families... It is such an unloving religion - so judgmental- actually I should have said cult, not religion. And they don't see anything of compassion through all the layers of blinders - I am only 4-5 years "awake/out" and yet I am still shedding layers of their indoctrination!
They really just just don't know, they are mentally manipulated & controlled, yet it hurts, I know... I don't believe in God any more, but the expression, "Forgive them, they know not what they do" seems to apply....
clarified understandings / new light of the past 7 years or so:.
* the faithful and discreet slave is only the governing body and only since 1919.. * the faithful slave was appointed in 1919 by jesus but it will not receive its greater authority until the judgment of the sheep and goats.. * charles taze russell was not part of the faithful and discreet slave.. * there was no slave for 1900 years before 1919.. * there may not have been any anointed during those 1900 years, but it's possible there were a few.. * 1935 was not the cut-off date for the selection of the anointed-- this selection is still ongoing.
* 1935 has no special biblical significance.. * 1918 has no special biblical significance.. * gog of magog is not satan, but is a coalition of nations, who may be ruled by the mysterious king of the north.. * there is no evil slave class.
The anointed get taken up to heaven just before Armageddon..?? Well isn't that just wonderful for them. And all the rest of Jehovah's sheep - the lowly second-class rank and file - get to go through this horrifying ordeal of fireballs from the sky & maddened hordes of people trying to kill them and each other, while earthquakes tear the ground apart and bodies rot and flash floods & tsunamis are all about. But I'm sure they will be very happy to know that the anointed are all okay. Whew.
What happened to all the people knowing that "a prophet had been in their midst" if all the "prophets" are not there - they've been "raptured"?? I guess that's where the lowly rank and file get to tell everybody that their prophets are now invisible, just like Jesus... And all the worldly people will be like, "oh, okay" as they get destroyed in the most terrible & terrifying ways. But this is all lovingly necessary of course. And then all the faithful JWs get to clean up the mess & the bodies (with the help of millions of birds) and somehow the anointed will still direct them from heaven.
Its such a case of the GB saying, "Heck with you guys! We're outta here! Aren't you happy for us? But don't worry about a thing, we're still going to be your leaders forever & ever! Or at least for the next 1,000 years. And we will be absolutely perfect and immortal and all safe and cozy in heaven while you guys get to schlep around cleaning up the earth and go through another horrific test from Satan..."
i was walking to town and i was approached by a smart young man.
"can i interest you in this," he said and handed me a small card with jw.org printed on it.. "oh, blimey," i said.
"i'm an athiest.

why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

Ah ha!!! -- I just noticed something else in this picture!!!
*rubbing hands together gleefully*
oh, boy, hoo hoo, you all will be amazed you missed this. Heh heh heh . Ooh boy oh boy, lol.
Well, here I am, lol, an old lady in her fifties, sitting here smoking my medicine and looking at this picture again (it's compelling somehow, isn't it?) -- and guess what I just noticed?!?
...
The DF'd woman is walking out the door, and what is the ONLY thing on the wall in the whole picture...?? heh he he , oh you will love this....
especially when you consider that on this side of the door there is only a foggy, diffused sort of light, almost misty and cloudy in some spots, especially above the older brother's head - it's like there is a little cloud of fog above his head! - But she walks through a clear, unblurred doorway, into an area where there is a CLEAR LIGHT in front of her!!!! Oh my. Love it. Don't you love it? ๐๐๐
The only source of visible, clearly-drawn light, is outside the freaking door, away from the mists and black and white dreamland.
